ooooohhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm.............

Sanded some on the port side, still a ways to go till I think I'll be satisfied enough to start bogging. I know it would fill and smooth everything but I want to get the wood down closer to perfect before I just start slathering everything. Its times like these where being a perfectionist (ocd) pays off..........or not. I am really starting to enjoy my sanding sessions (insert "karate kid" joke here), I can just get into it and turn my mind off, it has turned into a little vacation for me.

Here is what it looks like in "full view". It kinda has that "you'll probably spend a lot of time being wet" look, or that "went so fast I can't get the smile off my face" look, not sure which one yet...........I'm sure both.

Not that you need to hear this from me, but a major learning issue I had building the Falco was Eric constantly telling me "Don't sand for feel, sand for fairness". Remember it isn't a woman, it's a boat so running hands over it tells you about smooth, not fair. Soft pads on sanders allow harder materials to form mounds, and softer materials to form hollows.

Orbitals and random orbitals are great at removing material but they do not span enough distance to maintain fairness. Although I showed up with my quarter sheet Porter Cable, Eric took it away and made me use an 18" longboard by hand. He taught me to trust the longboard.

I'll shut up if I'm being a pain!

Thanks for the love Sarge. I hope when its done you'll somehow get a chance to run it through its pace's. This may call for a summer trip to DC for a booze cruz and hydrfoil testing sessions.

Bill,

Thanks for your input, as always it is welcome and appreciated..... I am only using the big pad random orbital to remove the high spots in the sharply curved "flare" area's. (which I check with some templates I've made. I have a longboard that I use as well, I just cant get it into those curves. When I move onto actual Fairing (with compound)the longboard will be the only tool I use. I love your feedback, so keep it coming.
